Law Amendments Committee Hearings on Bill 148

Today (December 16, 2015) at Law Amendments Committee hearings on Bill148 (the NS Liberal Govt’s 6th piece of anti-union legislation rammed through the legislature:

– Bev Strachan, President of CUPE Local 8920 (representing 4,700 hospital workers across the province) will present at 10:00 am

– Steve Joy, President of the NS Highway Workers Union (representing 1,400 members in CUPE 1867) will present at 11:00 am, and

– Mike McNeil, President of CUPE Nova Scotia representing more than 19,000 members, will present at 3:00 pm.

Public Service Superannuation Plan Communique

Public Service Superannuation Plan Trustee Inc. (Trustee) has completed its first comprehensive review of the Public Service Superannuation Plan’s (Plan) long-term financial health. The purpose of the review is to determine the Plan’s capacity to afford annual cost-of-living adjustments for the next 5 years and to review the adequacy of contribution rates.
